18C

Section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act legally prevents a person from insulting, humiliating, offending or intimidating another person or group on the basis of their race - but Attorney-General George Brandis wants to get rid of it.

This repeal will mean that journalists, our shock jocks and anyone else who feels the need will be able to say whatever they please and offend Australian communities with regards to their race.

The Government wants to repeal section 18C in a bid for "free speech".

We stand against these changes, and call on George Brandis to maintain Section 18C in the Racial Discrimination Act.
